Have a Fiat Type 186, alias the Multipla.
Its USP was three seats fron and rear, like the Honda FRV of the same era. It was short and wide so you get six adults into a car shorter than a Mk 1 Focus.
The motoring press raved about it and and it won Car of the Year award. Sadly, Fiat needed more than the praise of motoring writers, they needed people to cough up their own cash and they didn’t.
In 2004 the Multipla got a facelift and an injection of convention.
Still didn’t sell and it faded away by 2010, not to be replaced.
There was never an automatic one.
Moral: weird doesn’t sell.

More distinctive, not sure about better. Still they’re both ugly, so I’d much rather have the ugliest car of all time rather than blandly ugly one.
